The Shul

The LHC's beautiful orthodox Synagogue, built in 1898, is the home and crown of the Leicester Hebrew Congregation. The synagogue, with its own Mikvah, has always been the pivotal heart of the Jewish community.

The Grade 2 listed building received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2018. This funding has been used to build and set up a Visitor Centre to preserve, celebrate and share Leicester’s rich Jewish heritage which will help educate and promote a greater understanding of Judaism in the multi-cultural city of Leicester.

The Leicester Hebrew congregation is affiliated to the United Synagogue.

We have weekly Shabbat services. When there is a need for Kaddish to be recited, Minyanim for Marriv are arranged.
